Course Overview
This workshop is aimed at beginners and those with experience of bookbinding who are not familiar with Japanese bindings and ledgers. These bindings are sophisticated due to their simplicity and showcase the beauty of paper as a material. The workshop will start with instruction about the basic principles of bookbinding. I will demonstrate how to back and surface size Japanese mulberry paper, which will enable you to make a robust cover weight paper from lighter sheets. We will make a hemp leaf stab binding and a ledger. All materials and lunch are included.
