Phi Evans

I have been making baskets off and on for the last 30 years, mostly using willow but more recently concentrating on weaving with English rush.  I use other plant fibres too, keen to explore the possibilities of plants that grow around us; using garden plants, bark and woody plants from the countryside around us.

I really enjoy teaching and have introduced this accessible craft to anyone who wants to have a go.  Workshops include private tuition, therapy sessions, work with refugees and women’s groups at venues including my own workshop near Ludlow, village halls, and innercity community centres.

Most of what is made is both decorative, beautiful, strong and useful such as baskets, bags, bowls and mats. No previous experience is needed, just come and have a go. Everyone can weave!
